Air Quality & Ductwork
What Is a Whole-Home Dehumidifier?
A whole-home dehumidifier is a ducted appliance that removes moisture from household air independently of the cooling system. Because it is controlled by humidity rather than temperature, it can dry the house during mild weather when the air conditioner barely runs.

Why it matters to you
This directly addresses the gap a coastal shoulder season creates. In spring and autumn the outdoor temperature does not call for much cooling, so the air conditioner cycles little and removes little moisture — while the air outside remains humid. A dedicated unit covers exactly those weeks.
What to do about it
It is a complement to correctly sized cooling, not a substitute for it. If humidity is a year-round problem, have sizing and airflow checked first, since an oversized or short-cycling system is a common root cause.
