Free 2nd Opinion

Got a quote from another company? Get a free 2nd opinion from Airtech.

Before you sign a five-figure HVAC contract on the Crystal Coast, let one of Airtech's senior coastal techs walk through the proposal with you — spec by spec, price by price. 20+ years catching what generalist contractors miss on the coast.

Why Airtech's 2nd opinion is different

No obligation

We look at the quote, we tell you what we'd do, we leave. If the first company got it right, we'll tell you that too.

Apples-to-apples

Same tonnage, same SEER2, same coastal-grade or not — line by line. We break down where prices differ and why, so you can compare on real specs.

No pressure

No same-day-only discount tricks. No 'sign now.' If you want to go back to the first company, we'll email you our notes and wish you well.

Three steps · About an hour of your time

Here's exactly what happens

1

Send us the quote

Text or email a photo of the other company's written quote to (252) 636-5841. Include the equipment model number and total price.

2

We inspect the plan

A senior tech visits your home, verifies the sizing calculation, checks the load on the existing ductwork, and flags anything a coastal install actually needs (coil grade, elevation, service valve).

3

You get our written opinion

Either: 'The first quote is solid — here's why' OR 'Here's what we'd do differently, and here's what it costs.' Written, itemized, honest.

Why we do this

Because the coast is where quotes go wrong

The single most common thing Airtech's senior techs see when they visit a coastal homeowner with a competing quote is a system spec'd for inland conditions — right tonnage, right SEER2, wrong coil, wrong fasteners, wrong elevation. On paper, the price is fine. In year six, the condenser is scrap.

The second most common thing: an oversized system. Coastal humidity requires the AC to cycle long enough to actually pull moisture out of the air. An oversized unit satisfies the temperature setpoint fast, shuts off, and leaves you cold and clammy. A properly-sized system in a humid climate feels better AND lasts longer.

The 2nd opinion is Airtech's way of catching those two things before you sign. If we catch nothing, you paid nothing and you got peace of mind. If we catch something, you saved several thousand dollars and years of headache. Either way, we're building the reputation that gets us hired on the New Bern, Beaufort, Emerald Isle, and Pine Knoll Shores installs where the numbers really matter.

Frequently asked

What people actually want to know

Is the 2nd opinion really free — no strings? +

Yes. No trip charge, no diagnostic fee, no 'estimate fee' that gets waived only if you sign. We built the offer this way on purpose — the value to Airtech is the coastal homeowners who realize we actually know what we're talking about and hire us on the next system. If we can't earn your trust in an hour, that's on us.

What information do I need to have ready? +

The most useful things: (1) the written quote from the other company (a photo of the invoice is fine), (2) the equipment brand and model being proposed, (3) the age and size of your current system, and (4) any photos of the outdoor unit and indoor air handler. If you don't have the quote in writing, we can still help — call (252) 636-5841 and we'll walk through it.

Does this apply to repair quotes too — or just replacements? +

The Free 2nd Opinion is designed for equipment replacement decisions — where the numbers are large enough and the specs comparable enough that a real second opinion changes things. For repair diagnoses, we're happy to give you our take, but a proper repair 2nd opinion usually requires putting gauges on the system, which is more like a full service call than a paper review.

What if you tell me the first company's quote is actually correct? +

That happens — probably 30% of the time. If the first company got the sizing right, picked appropriate equipment for your home's exposure, and priced it fairly, we'll say so, hand you our notes, and tell you to go with them. Being honest when the other guy is right is the whole point of the offer.

What makes Airtech's 2nd opinion different from a competing HVAC quote? +

Two things: (1) 20+ years of coastal-specific installs means we catch things a generalist contractor won't — coil grade, service valve upgrade, elevation off concrete, corrosion-resistant fasteners — that separately are the difference between an 8-year and a 15-year lifespan on the coast. (2) We're a Daikin Comfort Pro, so if the other company proposed a Daikin system, we can verify whether the tier and warranty they quoted actually match the model number they wrote down.

How fast can I get an opinion? +

Same-week is the norm — often within 48 hours if you're in the New Bern / Havelock / Morehead City / Emerald Isle / Beaufort corridor. For urgent replacement decisions where the current system is out and it's July, we prioritize the visit. Text or call the number below and tell us your timeline.
