What Is Mobile-Home-Approved Equipment?
Mobile-home-approved equipment is HVAC equipment specifically listed for installation in a manufactured home. The listing covers the differences that matter in that construction — sealed combustion and dedicated outside combustion air, the required venting arrangement, and clearances suited to the structure.
Also called: mobile home approved · manufactured home listed · HUD-listed equipment
Why it matters to you
This is the single most common compliance issue in manufactured-home HVAC replacement. Equipment that is entirely appropriate for a site-built house can be both non-compliant and unsafe when fitted in a manufactured home.
What to do about it
Ask the installer to confirm in writing that the proposed equipment is listed for manufactured-home use. If a quote does not mention it, raise it before work is scheduled rather than afterwards.
